Gambling Close to Home and I Don’t Mean With Real Estate!

I am not a big gambler but every once in a while I like to have some fun at the slots. This is so close to my home in Fountain Hills, that I sometimes can’t resist the urge.

Just to give you a little background on the Fort McDowell Casino. It all started during the early 1900’s when several tribal casinos, including Fort McDowell were operating in the state and were waiting to sign gaming compacts with the state of Arizona. At the time the governer opposed Indian gaming and called upon the US Attorney’s office for support. On May 12 1992 FBI invaded Fort McDowell casino and seized 349 gaming machines. A three week standoff occurred and the Governor was persuaded to sign a gaming compact with the tribe paving the way for Indian  gaming in Arizona May 12th is celebrated as Sovereignty Day. The nation owns and operated a number of business including Fort McDowell Casino and the We-Ko-Pa Golf Club.  You can reach the Casino and Golf Club a few miles east of Fountain Hills right off  Beeline Highway at Fort McDowell Rd.

The casino is open 24/7, has 866 gaming machines, 55 table and power games, live keno, and bingo.  Free live entertainment at the Lucky 7 Saloon Friday- Sunday ,grab a bite to eat at one of the 5 restaurants, anything from breakfast food to crab legs or burgers.

If you don’t feel like making the drive home you can spend the night at the Radisson Fort McDowell Resort which is located immediately adjacent to the casino. You’ll find this beautiful new 4-Diamond facility an elegant and luxurious overnight, weekend or extended-stay experience.

Have Fun!
