My husband I enjoyed hiking the Hieroglyphic Canyon Trail in Gold Canyon which is located at the base of the superstition Mountains. It is an easy hike, about a 3 mile trip in and out with an elevation gain of only about a 400- 600 feet. It’s a popular spot with many hikers on the trail, when we reached the mouth of the canyon there had to be about 40-50 people on the cliffs.
The trail starts off wide and rocky and then bends north and begins climbing gradually to a signed intersection saying Lost Goldmine Trail, stay left at this junction and head towards Hieroglyphic Canyon. When you reach the opening of the canyon Petroglyphs line the rocks around this area, with some pools of water. Very Cool!
