I have lived in Fountain Hills AZfor almost two years and still get quite the thrill when I see the famous fountain jetting it massive force of water into the air. Such a beautiful exhibit of beauty with its canvas of sweeping mountain ranges in the distance. My husband always says the same thing “thar she blows” with a funny little accent.
Fountain Hills fountain is a main tourist attraction that brings visitors here from all over the world. The Famous Fountain is located in Fountain Park and sits in the center of a man made lake across the street from the ‘downtown” area. It is reported to be the 4th tallest fountain in the world. When the three pumps are used the water spurts in the air at its peak of 550 feet, but that is only on special occasions otherwise only two pumps are operating keeping the height at about 300 feet. It runs every day for 15 minutes every hour on the hour 9am- 9 pm unless it is very windy. In December 2010 the fountain celebrated its 40th anniversary by running at its full height of 550 ft. My husband took pictures from every vantage point in town and got some great shots as you can see.
On Saint Patrick’s Day the town of Fountain Hills celebrates by adding green coloring to the water and offering beer and brats in the park. Fountain Hills is a destination not to be missed!
